MYRLOS WATERS

HARLINGEN — Myrlos R. Waters, 73, went home on Friday, September 29, 2006. Myrlos was born in Rio Hondo, Texas to Andrew and Alta Waters.

      He served 31 years as an elder at Eighth and Harrison Church of Christ and was proud of his two hole-in-ones. Mr. Waters was greatly loved by his family, church family and a host of friends. He will always be remembered as a man of God.

 

      He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Wanda June, of Harlingen; son, Mark and wife, Cindi of Medina; daughter, Gaye Bailey and husband, Philip of Katy; daughter, Lori Gates and husband, Ken of Austin; nine grandchildren, Ryan Waters and wife, Rachel, Brent Waters and wife, Wendi, Melinda Waters, Kimber Scott and husband, Ryan, Caleb Bailey, Kenzie Wilson and husband, Danny, Levi Gates, Luke Gates and Meredith Gates; three great-grandchildren; mother, Alta Waters of San Benito; two brothers, James Waters and wife, Kay and M. A. Waters and wife, Barbara, all of Houston; and sister, Martha Ingle and husband, Sammy of Campwood.

 

      Visitation was held from 3 pm – 9pm with the family present from 5 pm to 7 pm on Saturday, September 30, 2006 at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home in Harlingen. Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, October 1, 2006 at Eighth and Harrison Church of Christ with Danny L. Mann, officiating. Private family graveside.

 

      Honorary pallbearers were grandsons and grandsons-in-law.

 

      Memorials may be made to Medina Children’s Home, Sunny Glen Children’s Home or Eighth and Harrison Youth Ministries.

JOHNNY RAMSEY

October 12, 2006

MT.VERNON — Johnny Ramsey, 76, went home on Thursday, October 5, 2006. He was born on July 5, 1930. Mr. Ramsey served as a minister for 57 years, authored thousands of articles for Christian publications, spoke at close to 1200 gospel meetings, and was known as the “walking Bible.” Johnny recently battled with heart problems and diabetes that physically slowed him down but did not hinder his love and faith for the Lord. He is missed greatly by many.

            He is survived by loving wife, Iris Ramsey of Mt. Vernon, TX; sons, Mark Ramsey and wife, Rita, and Dan Ramsey; daughters, Beth Gilzean and Julie Hope and husband, Ken; brother, David Ramsey; sister, Wilma Coleman and husband, Jack; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held on Monday, October 9 at the Centerville Road Church of Christ in Garland, TX with Bill Burk, Mike Vestal and Don Walker, officiating. Internment was at Restland in
Dallas, TX.  
 

 

           Pallbearers were Ernie Alrecht, Gene Campbell, David McCain, Wayne Pickrel, Newman Bench, Karl Kessel, Weldon MIller and Jimmy Young.
